Fostering our Next NBA MVP at Monarchs Day

Around here, we take basketball very seriously. Lavinia Lamenza, our President, believes that she could have been a basketball referee in another life. During the NBA championship games early this summer, we modified our work hours to be able to enjoy the playoffs, so you can imagine how excited we were when the Raptors won the championship and gave us the Larry O trophy for the first time franchise history!

Lamenza Corporation is also passionate about kids. We realize that our future is in their precious hands. We wanted to find a way to support children's organizations in the Mississauga community.

We came across Monarchs Basketball - a community organization in Mississauga that focuses on programming for kids 4 to 18 years old. The Monarchs have provided basketball programming for the youth of the Greater Toronto Area for over three decades. What spoke to us is their work offering leagues for boys AND girls, camps, development programs, and even elite training, providing progressive programming that is fun, engaging and rewarding for basketball players at every skill level.

Playing sports from an early age ensures that our children gain valuable skills, skills like teamwork, perseverance, discipline, sportsmanship and a great work ethic. Skills that as a business in the community that employs local members of our community, we want to nurture in our future generations. These same kids will hopefully one day be the leaders of our community and our future entrepreneurs.

We are happy to say that Monarchs held their annual Monarchs Day Event on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at Paramount Fine Foods Center, and Lamenza Corporation was honoured to be sponsoring the event this year. There were tons of fun activities for the whole family, Free giveaways, food trucks, vendor booths, contests and much more. See the video below.

Thank you to those that came out and supported a great organization at this free event! And who knows, you may have seen a kid shooting a three-pointer this weekend, and she may become an MBA MVP in the future!
